Our Team

We Believe in the Power of Moms.

We are moms like you. We found ourselves again after the birth of our children and we seek to lift each other up. We meet for workouts and turn them into play dates. We support each other through challenging days and laugh quickly. Life is good and we are thankful!

In 2011, while on maternity leave from Physical Therapy Graduate School, I went to my first Stroller Strides class. It was like a door opened to a new dimension! I had a gut feeling that Stroller Strides was going to play a major role in my life. Just a couple months later, I purchased my franchise! Since opening my first location early 2012, I have expanded from Stroller Strides to all programs FIT4MOM offers: Fit4Baby, Body Back and Running Club. The instructor team that teaches our classes are full of heart, compassion and will make you sweat! I couldn't be more proud of each instructor and member that makes Our Village thrive! Our #1 goal is to have mamas leave class with a bump of energy, smiling and, of course, sweaty!

I love everything about FIT4MOM! These moms and babies are my family! Whether I just met you or we have known each other for a while. There is a sense of sacred ground when I enter a class. We are equal and yet so different in our own ways. I have never felt less then or superior to anyone. I have never felt judged or defeated and I gain something every time I take a class. I love that no matter how I feel before a class, I always feel better after. I never have to motivate myself and I always get a fantastic workout- the best 1 hour workout really. Stroller Strides and FIT4MOM have changed my life!

Verenice jumped right into Stroller Strides classes when her son, Ulysses, was just a baby. Quickly, she added Running Club to her schedule. Her involvement with Our Village grew until she knew her next step was to join the instructor team!

I grew up playing sports and played volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis in high school. Being involved in sports sparked my passion for fitness and exercise.

Although I went to school for biology and forensic science, I never lost that love for working out and I began training hard at the gym after graduating college. After working with a few different personal trainers, I made it my new year’s resolution in 2011 to become a certified personal trainer and was certified by NESTA (National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association).

I started attending Stroller Strides in 2014 just a few months after my son Toryn was born. After going back to work full time I was missing the FIT4MOM community. My co-worker started doing Body Back in Burien and then became an instructor. Her encouragement was the final push that I needed to pursue my goal to become an instructor as well.

I am an occupational therapist by trade. After working for 12 years in pediatrics I decided to take time off after having my first child in 2013 (Winston). I began working part time again, but after having a 2nd in 2015 (Hazel) and moving for the 2nd time in the past 3 years I decided to stay at home a little longer. I took my first fit4mom class in April of 2016 and have been loving every minute! Prior to having children, my husband and I were very active and participated in marathons, triathlons, and were gym rats. Since having kids it has been difficult to find the balance of motherhood and finding the time to exercise. Fit4mom has been my answer to working out and feeling good about myself again!

I’m Carissa, mama to Michael Emmett, dog Goose and wife to amazing Jeff. Before being a stay-at-home mama, I worked in neurogenetic research at Seattle Children’s Hospital, ran half-marathons, played volleyball, rock climbed and could always be found outdoors. While some of this is still part of my life, the Mama part now comes first.

I’ve always been an athlete and have loved fitness. One of my favorite gifts as a child was a “Get in Shape, Girl!” fitness kit. I would pretend to be a workout queen and here I am, thirty-something years later, no longer pretending. When I was pregnant, I found myself exhausted and in need of some mommy connections. I found Fit4Baby and was hooked! It was exactly the emotional and physical boost I needed (even my husband noticed how much happier I was after working out at Fit4Baby). After having a particularly rough postpartum recovery, I knew I needed to get back to my community of mamas. With baby in tow, I tried my first Stroller Strides workout and felt right at home. It was so nice to be among other moms, both new and seasoned, trying their best for themselves and their kids.

I love how FIT4MOM allows us to work hard in front of our little ones, being examples of health, strength and perseverance. I am excited to continue my fitness journey and am honored to be a class instructor within such an incredible organization. I am so grateful to be a part of such a precious time in your family’s life. Cheers to motherhood!!!
